About Us:This is the cyber home of international educator and peace activist Arthur Romano. Creative Force is a space in which to further our own unique contributions to the systemic challenges we are facing today. This site serves as a dynamic educational space in which to explore emerging issues. Why Creative-Force?Increasing numbers of people now believe that we are poised on the edge of major transitions in the way we live and understand the world. Education is the first step in becoming effective agents for compassionate changeand and fortunately we have centuries of action and inspiration to draw upon. This site is dedicated to featuring as many inspiring examples as is possible-to profile individuals and communities that have risen up to successfully transform anger and frustration into inner strength and social change. This site is dedicated to exploring that creative force. I was inspired to use the theme of creative force because nonviolent change is a creative act, it requires vision in difficult times. I was pondering Mahatma Gandhi's use of the word “Satyagraha” to explain his method for social change in Indian and South Africa. While Satyagraha which can translate into “truth force” or 'soul force” gives a sense of the power of this science and its methods, we often refer to this as “pacifism” or "nonviolence" in the English language. The problem with the word nonviolence is that it is heard as the negation of violence as “not something” and “pacifism” sounds like passive. Both terms therefore lack the kind of vitality and strength that these methods actually require. It is for these reasons that this site draws on the theme of Creative Force similar to Gandhi 'soul force' emphasizing that nonviolent actions and solutions require both creativity and strength-a force which makes what once seemed impossible to many a living reality.
